Baking pans that is the question????????
With so many names to choose from LeCreuset, All Clad, Wilton and KitchenAid how is a person to know? Well if you are someone who bakes then I am sure you have your favorites. If not then you probably go to the store not really knowing and asking yourself the question...I wonder which is better.
There are all kind of pans for all kinds of baking. I will name a few for you that are commonly used. Cookie sheet, cake pan, bundt pan, springform pan and pie pan. Then you have glass, nonstick, dark nonstick, and corningware. Yes a lot of choices I know.
I would suggest buying a good quality name. You can go into any major retailer and buy Wilton. Wilton is a trusted name and if your just starting out and trying a few brands then you could start there. I have been through several myself throughout the years trying to find the "right" baking pan. I would not suggest buying it from a dollar store or buying one that cost 2.00 because you do get what you pay for. I will sometimes buy the aluminum pans at the grocery when i am cooking for alot of people and its casual. You can bake and serve all in one.
Cake Pans
They come in all sizes like 8x8, 8x9, 11x13 etc. It is really up to you if you are using glass or a nonstick pan. Just remember the heating temperatures will be different. So if your baking a cake then read the directions. The dark nonstick pans generally use a higher baking temperature. You can find some really fun pans out there also. Dinosaur cake pans, elmo cake pans, princess cake pans, you name it and can probably find it.
Springfom Pans
One of the things you can use the springform pan for is making home-made cheesecake. This pan snaps together on it's side. Once assembled, baked and cooled you unsnap the side and a beautiful cheesecake is ready to be served. If you have a problem with leaking before baking put aluminum foil around bottom and and a little up the sides.
Cookie Sheets
Ahhh the cookie sheet. Probably one of the most used pans in my house. One of my favorites in a cookie sheet that has 3 sides and one flat side. Yes that is correct....for sliding your cookies (or tater tots) onto a plate. Yes I always bake my tater tots on a cookie sheet.
Cupcake/Muffin Pan
How fun are these...mini muffin pans, giant muffin pans, hearts, trees you name it and there are a huge selection to choose from. If I am making cupcakes I always line with a cupcake liner. It's neater and looks pretty.
Bake and Take Pans
There are several types of bake and take pans. I mentioned early about the aluminum pans in the grocery. Well most of them come with lids. I also have several glass pans that have carrier cases to go with them. After your done baking they go into the carrier and off you go. Perfect for a picnic, dinner party, cooking a dish for a family or friend in need.
